The conditions and rules for the practice of non-Muslim religions in Algeria are defined by Ordinance No. 06-03 of 29 Moharram 1527, corresponding to February 28, 2006.

This ordinance sets out several provisions reflecting the Algerian state's commitment to respecting religious freedoms and promoting tolerance between different communities.

In this regard, Article 2 states: "The Algerian state, whose religion is Islam, guarantees the free exercise of worship in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution… The state also guarantees tolerance and respect between different religions."

Religious associations of non-Muslim faiths are placed under the protection of the Algerian state, in accordance with Article 3 of the ordinance. This provision guarantees their right to exist and practice their activities in a legal and secure framework.

Furthermore, to ensure equal treatment of all citizens, regardless of belief, the ordinance provides in Article 4 the prohibition of any discrimination based on religious affiliation, thereby ensuring equality of treatment among all citizens, regardless of their beliefs.
